Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be an in-person undergraduate reunion on campus in 2021?

Yes. Stanford Reunion will be held in-person at Stanford on October 21-24, 2021. We are excited to welcome back those undergraduate classes scheduled to mark a reunion in 2021 (the 1s and 6s), as well as those who have been patiently waiting since last October (the 0s and 5s).

Will there be a capacity limit for attendance?

Yes. In order to comply with university guidelines that are designed to keep our campus community safe, we will set registration capacity limits. At this time, there will be a one guest policy for every alum in attendance. With two reunion cohorts invited back to campus, a limited number of venues available will also dictate the number of alumni and guests that we will be able to accommodate.

We advise that you review cancellation policies for your travel arrangements in the event that you attempt to register after the reunion is sold out.

Will attendees be required to wear masks?

In addtion to the indoor mask requirement detailed below, we are strongly recommending masking outdoors in crowded settings when 6 feet of distance from others cannot consistently be maintained.

While vaccination is the most effective step we can take to minimize the spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant, masking provides an extra level of protection and helps keep our community safe. In compliance with university guidance announced September 2nd, all faculty, staff, students, contractors, and visitors must continue to wear face coverings in the following settings, regardless of vaccination status:

  • When indoors
  • When outdoors in crowded settings and unable to maintain 6 feet distance from others
  • When on public transportation, including golf carts, Marguerite and Stanford shuttles
  • When in healthcare facilities
  • In the case of an outbreak

Exceptions in which face coverings are not required to be worn include the following:

  • When actively eating/drinking
  • For children two years old or younger
  • When wearing a face covering would cause an unsafe condition*
  • If there is a medical or mental health exception. Anyone advised by a medical professional not to wear a face covering and/or those having a need for a clear face mask must contact and register with the Diversity and Access Office. Please email disability.access@stanford.edu or call (650) 725-0326.

Will attendees be required to be fully vaccinated?

All reunion attendees (including 12+), students, faculty, staff and postdoctoral scholars coming to campus this fall will be required to be fully vaccinated* for COVID-19.

Children between the ages of 2-12 can attend if they show proof of a negative test taken with 72 hours of arriving on campus. Children under the age of 2 do not require vaccination or proof of a negative test. Keep in mind there is a one-guest policy per alum for this year.

This requirement is based on Stanford's COVID-19 Vaccine Governance Committee’s review of conditions and developments around vaccination against the virus.

* If seeking an exemption for religious or medical reasons, please contact disability.access@stanford.edu. If granted an exemption, you will still be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test results taken within 72 hours of your arrival on campus. You will also be required to follow the current mask mandates as specified by Santa Clara County.

For the most up to date information on face coverings please visit Stanford Health Alerts webpage.

How will Stanford confirm vaccination status and enforce rules?

Vaccination and health status will be confirmed several times.

  1. During Registration, attendees will be required to self attest they have been or will be fully vaccinated by October 21, 2021, the first day of reunion events.

  2. When arriving on campus, all reunion attendees will be asked to provide proof of vaccination.
You must bring a photo ID plus one of the following to show proof of vaccination:
    - Vaccine card or a photo of your vaccine card
    - Digital COVID-19 vaccine record using the My Vaccine Record app.

    Vaccination documentation should clearly indicate:
    - Full Name
    - Birthdate
    - Vaccine name/manufacturer/Lot #
    - Date of vaccination(s)
Doctor's signature, stamp, official letterhead (if applicable)

  3. Reunion attendees are required to complete a daily COVID-19 Health Attestation

Attendees unwilling to comply with Reunion safety protocols will be asked to leave campus immediately.

Will international or out-of-state alumni be allowed to attend?

Alumni and guests wishing to attend reunions will need to provide proof of full vaccination. Air passengers traveling to the US are required to present a negative COVID-19 test result or documentation of recovery upon arrival at customs. All international travelers coming to Stanford’s campus are required to then quarantine off campus for five days, and then take a test and receive a negative result no sooner than day five of their arrival before coming to campus, in alignment with our travelers policy. Find a local testing site here. Please check this webpage for updates on possible travel restrictions in the future.

Will children 12 and under be allowed to attend, and will there be programs and activities for them?

So that we can welcome as many alumni in reunion year as possible back to campus and comply with capacity restrictions, this year’s reunion programming will be tailored for adult alumni attending their 5th through 65th reunions.

Reunions will focus on social events, intellectual programming, and experiences that appeal primarily to alumni and their adult guests.

If you decide to bring a child, please review vaccination requirements below and keep in mind there is no kids programming and a one-guest policy per alum for this year. In summary:

  • Child under 2: no mask required, no vaccination required, no charge to attend
  • Child 2-11: mask required (see fourth question above), no vaccination required, proof of negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of arrival, regular guest cost applies
  • Child 12 and up: mask required (see fourth question above), vaccination proof required, regular guest cost applies
  • There will be no programming or pricing discounts for children this year.

Will Stanford Reunion 2021 have combined events with last year's reunion classes?

Due to the postponement of 2020 reunions, we will be inviting two cohorts of reunion classes to participate. Class years ending in 0 or 5, whose reunion was postponed last year, and class years ending in 1 or 6, who are scheduled to reunite this year, will share a reunion celebration in 2021.

Please know that some specific class events are combined with another reunion class in order to work with our venue and capacity restrictions. View the Schedule of Events to find combined class events.

Why is reunion scheduled on a non-football weekend?

With two reunion cohorts of alumni invited back to campus this fall, we have separated from scheduling around a Stanford football game in order to decrease the number of alumni and guests on campus and to allow greater flexibility in the schedule to host class parties on both Friday and Saturday night.

Due to campus capacity constraints and the changed format of Stanford Reunion this year, Recent Grad Reunion 2021 will not take place this year. We are evaluating future opportunities to gather recent grads as part of the Stanford 10 project.
