The Automotive Innovation Facility houses the Volkswagen Automotive Innovation Lab (VAIL) which provides a state of the art vehicle research facility and community space where interdisciplinary teams work on projects that move vehicle technology forward by focusing on human centered mobility solutions. It is home to Stanford research vehicles such as Niki, the self-driving race car; MARTY, a self-driving, electric, drifting Delorean and X1, an entirely student-built test vehicle. The facility also houses the Stanford Solar Car Project, an undergraduate club, student workspace and the research activities of many of the autonomous mobility focused projects on campus.
Please arrive early to guarantee a spot. Bus boarding begins at 3:00 p.m. and will depart from Bing Concert Hall at 3:15 p.m. with a 3:30 p.m. arrival at the facility. The bus is scheduled to depart at 4:30 p.m. and return to Bing around 4:45 p.m.
